The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has asked 17 companies applying for a license to explain how they intend to protect vulnerable categories of players.

The companies are asked to explain the specifics of their planned advertising campaigns and approaches to providing bonuses to players by November 11, iGB writes. They are also expected to provide a detailed description of the system for protecting minors, monitoring and blocking users.
International giants such as Betano and Betfair by Flutter Entertainment were also included among the 17 companies. This thorough approach is due to several contraversion surveys whose results have been released in the country in recent months. In particular, an August survey showed that 10% of Brazilians had financial issues due to gambling addiction.

The authors of a study by the Brazilian Society of Retail and Consumption, on the other hand, said that 23% of gamblers have stopped buying new clothes and 11% have cut back on medical expenses. In response, the National Association of Gaming and Lotteries released an open letter, citing data showing that household consumption in the second quarter rose 1.3% from the previous quarter and 4.9% from the second quarter of last year. At the same time, the authors of a study by the Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming, the money spent on betting represents 0.1 – 0.3% of the country’s GDP. In addition, the hobby of betting over the past two years amounted to a minimal impact on household debt.
