In August, most segments of the gambling market in Denmark saw a decline, but thanks to the development of online casinos GGR in the last month of summer reached the mark of $84.1 million, which is 3.1% more than in July and 4.3% more than in August last year.

The seemingly insignificant change in the figures masks a global reshaping of the gambling industry in the country. After all, growth is being driven by the online casino sector, where revenue is up 20.8% compared to 2023, iGB writes.

Other areas are suffering. The strongest is sports betting, where revenue, on the contrary, decreased by 14%. Things are not much better for land-based casinos. Here the fall is 12%. But the situation is more stable for the owners of land-based slot machines. Their income decreased by only 0.2%.

At the same time, 51893 Danes are currently included in the Register of persons isolated from gambling. Compared to last year, their number has increased by 12.4%. Interestingly, 34522 people chose the option to limit themselves from gambling for life.
