According to law enforcement authorities, a man received 15 million rupiah, less than $1,000, for his 11-month-old child. The police arrested the father and the individuals who attempted to buy the child. This incident took place in West Jakarta. A local woman returned home and found that her 11-month-old child was missing.

The father was also at home, pretending not to know where the child had gone. The wife grew suspicious and pressured her husband until he confessed everything. She later took him to the police station, where a report was filed against him.

The man revealed that he sold the child for 15 million rupiah, which is equivalent to about $955. Initially, he claimed he intended to use the money for family needs, but it was soon discovered that he spent it on gambling. After the father’s confession, the police went to a rented house where the child and other suspects were located. The suspects are currently being investigated for possible links to organized crime groups involved in human trafficking.
